SISTER TIBERH 27th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
On June 23, people from all over the country (and world) celebrated Sister Tiberh Hagos, a Comboni Missionary Sister. Sister has been St. Elizabeth’s Human Concerns Minister for several years. The Mass celebrated Sister’s 27th religious anniversary. Father Jim wrote in the bulletin:
“I have learned so much from Sister and in a unique way to trust in “PROVIDENCE.” Whenever a challenge or difficulty would occur, Sister would say, “We must trust in God’s PROVIDENCE.” It was PROVIDENCE that brought Sr. Tiberh to join St. Elizabeth, to welcome our Umoja newcomers to our parish, to support the invigoration of our parish as we now are blessed with lots of children and crying babies. I thank God for Sr. Tiberh.”
Sister Tiberh leaves St. Elizabeth to move to Chicago to continue her studies and receive her Masters of Divinity. St. Elizabeth was blessed with the gift of PROVIDENCE to have had Sister walk with us in faith, charity and enrich our diversity. Blessings to Sister Tiberh, her family, and her Comboni Sisters

VIRGINIA CATHOLICS FOR RACIAL JUSTICE – Wednesday, July 6

[email protected].edu. July’s featured speaker will be Dr. Mario Dance from Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Dr. Dance will speak on Understanding Racism, Racial Tension, and Racial Reconciliation. In his bio, Dr. Dance describes himself as “simply as a man who loves Jesus, everything else beyond that is trivial by comparison.” Dr. Dance now serves as an adult catechist at his home parish of Holy Rosary Church in Richmond, VA.
CANVASS FOR LIVING WAGE – Saturday, July 30
Our parish is a member of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP), an organization of congregations and individuals from all faith backgrounds, which promotes social justice through education and advocacy in Virginia. On July 30, local teams of interfaith individuals will be inviting businesses to get living wage certified! The Virginia Living Wage initiative, a campaign of the VICPP, connects values-aligned consumers, job seekers, and employers to promote positive impact in local economies throughout the Commonwealth. The St. Elizabeth’s Centennial Anniversary Committee is planning a silent auction to raise much-needed funds for the parish.
